A category where no big number is a clean commercial signal. The total ~389K monthly visits across 7 countries breaks down into software login portals, calculators and viral articles - real demand for an accountant is the small remainder. Deep dive into Serbia, signal cleanliness via Top Pages, Google reviews, and revenues from public registries.
How to read this report: This is a leading indicator (traffic/interest), not trailing (revenue, clients, retention). More web traffic in this category does not mean higher market share - the signal-cleanliness section shows that link almost breaks down here. Section 7 compares numbers with Google reviews, Annex A with public-registry revenues, Annex B with active Meta ads. Use this analysis to see where the signal is, not as standalone budget evidence.
A total sample of ~389K monthly visits across 7 countries looks like a big market until you break it down. When you look at what users actually do on those pages, three things separate out.
52% of traffic goes to software login portals - Keez, Smartree, Minimax, Data - where a visit means an existing client logging into a tool, not a new buyer looking for an accountant.
31% lands on flat-tax calculators, viral articles and info tools - high volume, but buying intent is weak and hard to convert.
The remaining ~17% is the only part that looks like real commercial demand - concentrated in a handful of Serbian domains where site structure and page hierarchy clearly lead to a contracted client.
When software portals are stripped out of Serbia (Minimax, Datalab, Saga...) and only the services market of accounting firms is looked at, this is the cleanest slice in the entire region. Shown are 8 domains that account for ~93% of measurable services traffic.
pausal.rs (33%) is a calculator machine - Clever Solutions owns it, monetizes through Clever Books. It is not a classical accounting firm.
Unija (RS) and Goldman NS are the only ones at the top with site structure that clearly leads to a contracted service - service pages, price list, contact form.
Unija ETL is the largest by revenue (€2.71M) but only #2 on the web - a clear example that revenue leadership does not have to mean online-channel leadership.
"Accounting" in this analysis covers four different business models competing for the attention of the same user, but with completely different revenue units, delivery method, and buyer profile. Mixing them into a single number is the main reason why rank by traffic ≠ rank by revenue.
| Country | Total visits (K) | Measurable domains | Pattern |
|---|---|---|---|
| Serbia | 171.3 | 25 / 68 | Services market, readable hierarchy |
| Romania | 124.3 | 7 / 11 | Product-led, 91% on Keez + Smartree |
| Slovenia | 73.2 | 10 / 68 | Software-dominated (Minimax + Data) |
| BiH | 8.1 | 10 / 68 | Services-oriented, but thin on the web |
| N. Macedonia | 5.7 | 3 / 15 | Narrow sample, software + a few firms |
| Croatia | 5.2 | 11 / 68 | Thin online layer for the market size |
| Montenegro | 1.8 | 4 / 15 | Below threshold, only single domains |
Keez (63K) + Smartree (49K) = 91% of measurable traffic in the country. The model is sold as software, not as a service - and this is the only SEE market where the web signal clearly follows the business unit.
Minimax and Data hold the majority of visible traffic. Classical firms exist but their go-to-market does not run through the web, so at the SEMrush threshold they are thinly represented.
BiH, Croatia, N. Macedonia and Montenegro: small online presence, dominantly referral and local channels. Web analysis shows only the tip of the iceberg.
Across the 25 measurable Serbian domains, acquisition boils down to two channels. Organic (Google) carries 60-85% of traffic, Direct 10-30% (brand + typing the URL), while paid ads and social are almost invisible. Referral is negligible. This is typical for services categories where the decision is made through an offline referral, and Google is used to verify a firm someone already mentioned.
Most brands. SEO on non-brand terms is rarely applied here.
Brand recognition and referrals. On pausal.rs a larger Direct share → the tool became the category name.
Almost no one invests systematically. Rare seasonal campaigns.
Negligible. Occasional LinkedIn use by advisories, but outside SEMrush measurement.
To separate "large traffic" from "large business", the Top 3 Pages were checked for each top domain. If the most-visited pages are services, price lists and contact - the signal is commercial. If they are calculators, articles or login - the signal is informational or product-led and translates poorly into a contract with an accountant.
A visit here is not "I am looking for an accountant" - it is "how much is my tax". Monetization runs through Clever Books, not through services.
Site structure tracks the business unit. Visits translate into serious contacts with mid-market clients.
Clear price list + form on home. Reviews (37, 5.0) confirm the web trail matches active business.
Blog is the traffic engine. Service sub-pages exist but rank below the blog in the top list - part of the traffic is informational.
Same pattern as pausal.rs on a smaller scale. Content-first, not a services firm.
€2.03M revenue (Annex A) - a significant player. Web signal confirms real services business.
Web traffic is a leading indicator. Google reviews - written by a client after the experience - are a trailing signal. Comparing the two numbers shows where web traffic is confirmed by real clients, and where it leaves no trace in reviews.
| Brand | Reviews | Rating | Comment |
|---|---|---|---|
| Keez (RO) | 821 | 4.5 | order of magnitude above all |
| Aktiva Sistem NS (RS) | 93 | 4.9 | highest RS count |
| Data d.o.o. (SI) | 86 | 4.1 | |
| Smartree (RO) | 63 | 4.2 | |
| DMK T&F (RS) | 53 | 3.6 | lowest rating at the top |
| Paušalko (RS) | 52 | 5 | |
| Ekonomik (ME) | 46 | 5 | sponsored Maps |
| Goldman (RS) | 37 | 5 | responds to every review |
| Unija Belgrade (RS) | 36 | 4.9 | |
| Vizija BG (RS) | 19 | 3.6 | weakest signal ratio |
Keez (821 rev, 4.5) and Smartree (63 rev, 4.2) have both large web traffic and the biggest review volume. Product-led model where traffic matches a real client base.
Aktiva Sistem (93, 4.9) and Unija BG (36, 4.9): moderate counts, high ratings, active response. Web + trailing signals line up well.
Vizija BG (19 rev, 3.6) and DMK T&F (53 rev, 3.6): high web traffic and revenue (Annex A), but weak public reputation in the online community. Part of the business success clearly does not rely on the online channel.
For decisions on positioning, budget or acquisition in this category, the data suggests four practical directions. None is universal - it depends on the segment you operate in (services, calculator, software, advisory).
Most domains rank only on their own brand. Services non-brand queries ("accountant for LLC", "accounting cost", "flat-tax Belgrade") are available at low competition for whoever systematically builds content.
Rank by traffic in this category does not track rank by revenue (Annex A). When benchmarking competition, weigh all three metrics: web, reviews, public financials - otherwise you track the wrong target.
Firms working with mid-market clients (Unija, Vizija, Goldman) have sites with clear services, pricing and a form. Calculators and blogs bring visits but do not qualify - a services site filters an inbound lead better than a content-heavy approach.
The Romanian paradigm (Keez, Smartree) shows that the region allows a build on software + delivery, not only a classical services firm. For an entrant with tech resources this is a legitimate option, but it requires different unit economics than services.
Same list of Serbian brands, ordered by publicly registered revenue (APR). "Web rank" is the position on the list from section 2 (services market). "Below threshold" means the domain has no measurable SEMrush traffic - the firm operates, but the online channel is not their main entry. Revenues in millions of €.
| Brand | Revenue (M €) | Web rank | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Unija ETL Accounting | 2.71 | #2 | |
| HLB TM | 2.18 | #11 | |
| Vizija Računovodstvo BG | 2.03 | #6 | |
| BDO Business Advisory | 1.93 | - | below threshold |
| WTS Tax & Finance | 1.44 | - | below threshold |
| Confida (CONEO) | 1.01 | - | below threshold |
| Aktiva Sistem | 0.83 | #7 | |
| Knjiški Moljac 2012 | 0.58 | - | below threshold |
| Ideal Računovodstvo | 0.58 | #4 | |
| Procedura | 0.49 | #13 | |
| pausal.rs (Clever) | 0.32 | #1 | |
| Creative Finance | 0.23 | #12 | |
| Goldman NS | 0.21 | #3 | |
| DMK Tax & Finance | 0.16 | #8 |
Meta Ads Library was checked for active ads in the category, in Serbia and the region. The result is short: almost no one advertises systematically. Active campaigns are the exception, usually B2B software, rarely service firms.
Active ads, mostly lead-gen towards a trial or demo call. Product-led acquisition is expected to be paid-dominant.
Not a single top-10 firm in Serbia runs active Meta campaigns at the snapshot time. The channel is open, but evidently unprofitable at current CPL for this service type.
No active paid ads. The model relies on SEO + brand, monetization runs through cross-sell (Clever Books) offline and via email.
SEMrush Traffic Analytics (Jun 2026) for traffic and Top Pages; SEMrush Market Explorer for market shares; Google Maps / Business for reviews and ratings; APR (Serbia) and equivalent local registries for publicly filed financials; Meta Ads Library for active campaigns.
68 candidate domains pulled from public lists, Google search and local referrals. The analysis covers 7 countries: Serbia, Slovenia, Croatia, BiH, N. Macedonia, Romania, Montenegro. Of 68, only 25 have measurable SEMrush traffic above the ~1K visits / month threshold.
SEMrush is a panel-based estimate. Small firms with real business but small web presence are below threshold and invisible. Everything shown is leading (interest/traffic), not trailing (clients, revenue). Annex A and Google reviews serve as the trailing check.
Service firm = classical accounting service (contract + monthly fee). Calculator = content-first site with tools. Software = SaaS platform for flat-tax or accounting. Advisory = tax/finance consulting for mid-market (close to the Big 4 model).
